Twenty years after the dedication of the United States’ first national park, Thomas “Yellowstone” Moran revisited and painted the landscape that had made him famous. This view of the passage known as the Golden Gate also highlights another development, the rise of tourism in the park, signaled by a new trestle engineered to bolster a perilous though increasingly traveled road through the park. “Golden Gate, Yellowstone National Park,” 1893. #oiloncanvas #yellowstone #highnoon by highmuseumofart

Guest Instagram Photo: Preservation tour in progress!!

We were excited to host a preservation tour of the Artmore Hotel on March 11th.  Visitors experienced the hotel with a rooms tour and took in the iconic features of the hotel hailed as one of the few Mediterranean style architecture buildings in the Atlanta area.  We hope more preservationists can come view the property again soon!

Stereoscopes were one of the United States’ most popular forms of entertainment around the turn of the twentieth century. When viewed through a stereoscope, the double image appeared to come alive in three dimensions. #takealook #highnoon by highmuseumofart
